She is a former Miss India, was a Kingfisher Calendar model on more than one occasion, and looks better in a bikini than most Victoria's Secret models! So clearly, good looks are clearly a given as far as this Jill of all trades is concerned. She recently bagged a major international contract as the face of cosmetics giant Maybelline. But even with such huge deals in the offing, Esha Gupta's got something even bigger and better coming up--a Bollywood debut of course!
The svelte, sultry and ever so understated model-turned-actress is entirely atypical of Bollywood, which is probably why she's piqued so much interest in the industry. Jannat 2, starring the likes of Emraan Hashmi and Randeep Hooda, is her vehicle of success. And considering it comes on the back of a seriously successful prequel, big things are expected from this Bhatt production. Apparently, the female protagonist in the film is not to be overshadowed by the male cast. Esha has an extremely significant part to play in it, so we can heave a sigh of relief this once that an actress as gorgeous as her isn't going to be misused for a blink-and-you-missed-it role.
A trained Kathak and contemporary jazz dancer, she's full of dualities and refreshing quirks. A life-long tomboy and seriously unaffected by her own good looks, she's a breath of fresh air. All we can hope for is that imminent success doesn't change her.
Even more surprisingly, she actually seems to have a brain! This became apparent when she nonchalantly mentioned in an interview, "Honestly, offers were coming my way even before I had signed Jannat 2. However, I wanted to slow down a little, and hence did an acting course as well. I don't think anyone can get good roles and end up impressing the makers with just good looks. You have to be show spark as an actor as well."
So, for one of the most anticipated debuts in Bollywood in recent times (at least as far as we're concerned) her strikingly good looks, a promising future, and an unusual abundance of talent, we crown Esha Gupta our 'Babe of the Week.'
