Real talent is hard to come by in Bollywood, but Parineeti Chopra was determined to prove that she had 'it.' That electric spark that would set her, with her Plain Jane-ish looks, apart from the hordes of foreigners/models-turned actresses that have been hogging all the Bollywood limelight of late. Did she manage this? Well, she wouldn't have made the cut for this title if she hadn't!
Funnily enough, she never aimed for acting glory of this variety. Once an assistant director with completely different aspirations in the filmy world, Chopra was coaxed into playing the petulantly plump Dimple Chaddha in last year's hit 'Lady vs. Ricky Bahl.' She wasn't even in the lead role, but her feisty, stylistic, and entirely natural performance earned as many accolades as the film's main cast! Needless to say, there was never going to be any looking back from there. She was swiftly picked up by a major production house for a 3-film deal. And now, thanks to them, we had the good fortune to watch her first 'real' debut, alongside the equally-anticipated Arjun Kapoor in 'Ishaqzaade.' 90% of the reviews rave about the movie, citing 'Parineeti Chopra' as the main reason to watch it!
Since the rave reviews, the more the girl speaks to the media, the more we like her. She may be only a few films old, but she speaks her mind--a rarity in the superficial world of Bollywood. Better yet, her mind is actually intelligent. Whether she's talking scripts, or looking beyond the smaller, petty aspects of movies other actresses pick on, she seems to be one of the few Bollywood actresses to actually have somewhat of a handle on the intricacies of the art of film-making--something that sets her apart from all the rest.
Oh and did we mention the PYT is none other than Priyanka Chopra's little cousin? Hmm, we could be wrong but perhaps the Chopras are pegged to be the next Bollywood dynasty. Move over Khans, the Chopras are arriving, and they actually seem to have some real skills! So while she may not be the fairest of them all, the most exquisitely dressed, or even hailing from the most prominent Bollywood family, Parineeti Chopra is our 'Babe of the Week' for breaking through the proverbial glass ceiling and proving once and for all, that even a modicum of real talent speaks volumes on the big screen.
