This British singer is our hands down ‘Winner of the Week,’ for a great showing at the recently held Grammy Awards! The music industry’s biggest night of the year saw Adele steal the entire show--even in the light of Houston’s death on the eve of the event.
She won a whopping six Grammy awards, thereby scoring a win in every single category she was nominated in. Her awards even included the prestigious trifecta of record, album and song of the year. This feat has been achieved only once before! Her tally of awards matched her with Beyonce for most Grammys ever won by a single female act.
The album--'21'--that became the ultimate record breaker, is a soulful, bluesy and powerful entity. And her voice is different to say the least--what with its deep, trembling baritones. And its unfathomable quality represents everything that is right with music today. It’s confident and above all, it’s emotionally resuscitating!
Adele herself admitted to being on an emotional roller coaster in the days following the awards ceremony. In her own words, "I'm absolutely flabbergasted! In between laughing my head off, welling up, needing to sit down and trying to maintain an open fire, I keep having flashbacks to Sunday night. The most incredible night of my life!"
In fact, she showed her gratitude to her adoring fans in the best way possible--by making a comeback at the Grammys after a 3-month hiatus due to a vocal chord surgery. Her performance simply blew everyone away.
At 23, she’s only a year older than Taylor Swift, and she’s evolved more than Swift probably will in the next 20 years. There’s no silly frocks, no inane gushing, no drama and no tears when it comes to Adele. She's just a seriously talented singer, who is consistent in her delivery, and whom we can expect great things from for many years to come.
Soon after the Grammys, she nearly shocked the music industry--and most definitely, her record label--when she tweeted something which implied that she would be taking a break from her career for five years. However, she soon clarified that she only meant she would be taking a few days off rather than years! That came as a massive relief to us!
We just hope this beautiful singer continues to create hit records without taking too long a break from what she does best!
