Up until a couple of days ago, Luke Pomersbach was known to cricket fans as a 27-year-old batsman with a fair bit of T20 potential. However, now the whole world knows him as that IPL player, who allegedly forcibly groped a woman!
We really wonder what the Western Australian was thinking when he apparently tried to grope an engaged woman at the Maurya Hotel in New Delhi. After not having played a single game this season for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, this was, perhaps, Luke’s way of catching some action!
Of course, there’s nothing even remotely funny about a drunk cricketer using his strong arms to molest a woman and then beat up her fiancée! While the couple in question sustained some injuries, even Luke somehow managed to break his arm in the ensuing row.
Upon being arrested by local cops, the cricketer was produced before a metropolitan magistrate, where more drama ensued. With his arm in a sling, the Aussie appeared to be a faint shadow of the strapping man who just hours earlier had tried to force his way with a woman.
And as if appearances weren’t enough, young Luke even fainted in court after complaining of dizziness. We suppose he couldn’t handle the heat in the courtroom, but he was fit enough to raise some hell the night before!
While this may be a really bad hangover for this cricketer, his actions will, hopefully, bring the IPL party organizers (who are not authorized by the league!) to their senses. They need to ensure that their players don’t step over the line when it comes to their infamous late-night shindigs.
For now, though, little Luke has been suspended for the season, and is out on interim bail. We figure he’ll be staying in India for some time to come--not playing in the IPL, but making rounds of a Delhi court!
So, for ruining his own reputation and being a world-class jerk, who allegedly tried to force his way with a woman, Luke Pomersbach is our Idiot of the Week.
While Luke showed his true colors off the field, Shah Rukh Khan showed red on it. We are, of course, referring to King Khan’s altercation with the Wankhede Stadium staff after the KKR-MI game on May 16.
What was SRK thinking when he decided to gather a few of his cronies and play cricket on the laid out track? Also, why would he then go on to pick a fight with the stadium staff, who were only doing their job? This is not the kind of behaviour one expects from a man who is a role model to millions.
