Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf

As Liberia’s President head of state (elected by Parliamentary processes, mind you) she is not only the first female to have earned this position in this country but also the first female in any African country!

She has been incredibly democratic in her leadership which has not proved easy in this country and has doled out a strong sense of unity amongst her people. As such, she is an incredibly awe-inspiring figure today and a force to be reckoned with in the political world.
