Here too women are constantly forced into early marriages and domestic slavery. In fact, 26% of all brides here are made up girls between the ages of 16 and 18. Other shocking statistics include that 74% of working-age Turkish women are unemployed and a whopping three million are illiterate. 

Kurdish women have been protesting far more about this backward state of affairs and rampant oppression of women in recent years and they are witnessing more liberalization than ever so perhaps somewhere far in the future, they will taste more freedom than they've ever been allowed till date.
