On the occasion of the 111th birthday of late Hollywood star Clark Gable, we take a look at some classic leading men that helped make Hollywood what it is today

5 Classic Hollywood Actors

John Wayne (1907-1979)

Known for his rugged masculinity, this two-time Academy Award winner was the quintessential cowboy. While he acted in several memorable western flicks, including 'True Grit'--for which he won an Oscar--his acting range was second to none. He won his first Oscar in 1949 for playing the lead role in 'All The King's Men.'

He was one of the biggest box-office draws of his time, and he has been immortalized by the countless cowboy and war movies he made.
