Theremin

The musical saw and the theremin have a lot in common as far as its ethereal sound is concerned. The latter is one of the earliest fully-electronic musical instruments. Considering we live in an age where EDM proponents are influencing all genres of music, one might even consider the theremin to be the starting point of this musical age!

Created by Russian inventor, Leon Theremin back in 1919, here’s what makes the instrument so incredibly special—it can be played without touching it at all! Basically, it consists of two radio frequency oscillators and two metal antennas. The electric signals from the theremein are then amplified and directly sent to the loudspeaker. Pretty cool, right?
