These massive blackouts caused entire cities to halt!

World's Biggest Power Shortages

Check out the World's Biggest Rappers here.

Brazil, 2009

This was a three-hour-long power shortage in Latin America's biggest country on November 10, 2009. Initially, many attributed the power shortage that affected as many as 60 million people in Brazil for almost three hours to hackers. And believe it or not, the entire nation of Paraguay (with a population of seven million) was also briefly blacked out.

Eventually, it was discovered that it was the storms near the Itaipu hydroelectric dam that caused the electric chaos. The people of Brazil never took their power for granted again!
