Gary Ridgeway

This mild-mannered family man is responsible for over 71 murders that took place near Green River, Washington between 1982 and 1998. He's also known as the Green River Killer. All his victims were runaways and prostitutes between the ages of 15 and 40 that he would rape and strangle. 

Finally, the authorities cuaght up with Ridgeway in 2001. He was one of the first killers to be convicted on the basis of DNA evidence. In 2003, he was handed 48 life sentences without the possibility of parole for the 48 murders for which he was convicted.
