Chinese

To include Chinese as only one language is a bit trite, but since both Mandarin and Cantonese are more than worthy of finding a place on this list, we figured we'd just club the two together. Though most people already know that Chinese is difficult to grasp, few know why besides the fact that its script looks as complicated as a physics diagram sketched by Einstein! The truth is, it's its tonal nature that makes it so complicated because when you change the tone of a word, its meaning changes as well. Besides, thousands of characters and a ridiculously complex writing system is enough to scare anyone away!

However, if you do manage to master this complicated oriental language, it will hold you in good stead. For one thing, you'll be able to communicate with 1/3rd of the world's population that comes from China. And for another, the layered complexities force your brain to work in a different way which is extremely useful for analytical thinking.
