These extremely strange diseases are bound to evoke everything from pity and disgust to sheer shock!
Jumping Frenchman Disorder
With a name like that, this one is just destined for extreme weirdness. Its main characteristic is that patients are terribly startled by unexpected noises or sights. Sounds normal enough? Well, their reaction isn't! It's not just simple twitching, or a small yelp when they're shocked, these patients flail their arms madly, cry out extremely loudly and repeat words constantly. It's a little bit like tourettes--with a twist.
The Canadian reference in the name is due to the fact that this disease was first identified in some of Maine's lumberjacks of French-Canadian origin. However, be warned that it has been identified in other parts of the world too!
