Alien Hand Syndrome

Solely caused by unusual brain functioning or a neurological disorder, this one sounds more like a macabre plot of an Edgar Allen Poe tale. If you can imagine anarchy within your own body and limbs, then that is exactly what this is! Basically, one of the patient's hands functions entirely voluntarily, and more importantly, they cannot stop their own hands!

Extreme symptoms involve patients whose hands involuntarily stuff food into their mouth, or self-inflicted violence or even undressing in public! There have only been 40 to 50 recorded cases of this disease since 1909 when it was first identified.
