Laser Weapons

Solid-state laser weapons are now being used and further tested by the US navy. These devices use an infrared laser system that can produce fairly high power levels. 

So far, these weapons have been able to bring down target drones during testing. The lasers have also been mounted on airplanes for the same purpose, and a massive effort is underway to perfect these weapons of the future for eventual deployment in the field.
