Steampunk is a science fiction genre that emerged in the late 1980s and early 90s. "Steampunking" an object gives it a retro, Victorian look and feel that dates back to the era in which most devices were powered by steam. The devices imagined by writers like Jules Verne and HG wells are considered the very first examples of steampunk machines.
