Here are some of the greatest losses that F1 has suffered over the years.
Ayrton Senna
Senna, one of the most legendary drivers to grace Formula 1, met with a deadly accident on May 1, 1994, the day after Roland Ratzenberger's fatal crash. Senna failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into a concrete wall. He succumbed to severe head injuries on the spot. Upon the wreckage's inspection, an Austrian flag was discovered on his person, which Senna hoped to wave in honor of Roland Ratzenberger. The astonishing fact of Senna's accident was, that his body was completely unscathed.
This specific week is seen as the most tragic one in Formula 1 history. The two consequitive accidents lead to a major overhaul in safety regulations.
