We've always believed B-town to be a man's world but these ladies and directors seem determined to break through that proverbial glass ceiling.

No One Killed Jessica

Vishal Bharadwaj was only one film old when he decided to take up a project as ambitious as this. It was his attempt to keep the struggle of Jessica Lall's family and their struggle for justice for the murder of the model alive via film. Starring Vidya Balan as Sabrina Lall and Rani Mukherji as a version of the feisty and independent career woman, Barkha Dutt, needless to say both central characters were incredibly strong women roles.

The director himself was never apprehensive that this film wouldn't work without a strong male character and he turned out to be right. It tanked at the Box Office but critical acclaim was well-deserved and received. It wasn't the kind of theme an Indian audience's palette is used to but we certainly hope this trend of acceptance continues.
