Marlene Schmidt
Marlene Schmidt, a German, won the Miss Universe title in 1961. Born in 1937, Schmidt witnessed the devastation of World War II and during the course of it all, managed to study diligently, completing her Master's Degree in Engineering!
She eventually moved to West Germany where she bagged the Miss Germany title in 1961, followed by the Miss Universe! This saw her stepping into Hollywood where she produced, wrote, and acted in many films!
