On the occasion of his birthday here's our list of Ritchie's best blockbusters yet. Grab a beer, rent them all and enjoy.

Sherlock Holmes

We'll admit that we, like so many others, were a bit baffled when Ritchie took on an ambitious project like this for a directorial venture. We were even more baffled when it came out so much better than we expected. He made all the right decisions right from casting (Robert Downey Junior is a genius) to script sequences. And by the end of the production he had another classic film on his hands.

It's not an easy task to bring a literary character as epic as Holmes to life and then turn him into a full-fledged action hero is a risk bigger than most people realize but fortunately for him, it paid off. He definitely respected the intelligence of the novels and kept the spirit of them intact which is another thing adapted scripts tend to botch up. All in all, it was a witty film that shone even when critics refused to believe that it might.
