These 7 tennis champs made their mark on the All England Club and how!

WIlliam Renshaw

This man had a train station built in his name, seeing as to how he bagged the Wimbledon title seven times--the first to reach this mark. The Championship's popularity was on a rapid rise at the peak of his career and so the two became entwined forever in the world of tennis.

His pioneering of the smash led to it being referred to as the 'Renshaw smash' for many years to come. And his skills were so extraordinary at the time that many have credited him for the growth of tennis not only in England, but the entire world! When he passed away in 1904, he had changed the face of the sport, especially the Wimbledon tournament and as such, is undoubtedly one of the greatest Wimbledon men's champs for more reasons than one.
