These 7 tennis champs made their mark on the All England Club and how!
Rod Laver
Rodney George Laver, "The Rocket," "The Rockhampton Rocket," or "Rod" is often regarded as the greatest tennis player--especially by those who actually had the opportunity to witness his game live. The Australian player was an incredibly gifted striker and it was a standing joke that he could return a ball, walk off the court to fry something and still return calm and unruffled to slam a few more aces.
He won four titles at the Wimbledon, and came in as a runner-up twice as well. His scintillating performances each and every time made him a major force. He is also remembered as the sole male player during the open era to have ever won a calendar year Grand Slam.
