Boris Becker

This German player made a mark before he was even an adult! In 1984, he became the first unseeded player to ever win the Wimbledon--not to mention the youngest ever, since he was only 17 when he did so. Although he only achieved No.1 status for 12 weeks (less than most on this list) he managed to advance the game of tennis in his own unique way.

His entire game was based on a fast and well-placed serve, which earned him the nickname of 'Boom Boom' aside from his great volleying skills at the net. His sensational win at such a young age turned him into an overnight sporting superstar but Becker made sure to prove time and again over the years, that the win was not just a fluke as he won more Grand Slam titles.
