The Beijing Games

It's really never got more spectacular than this--save for the London Games. 2008's Beijing Olympics saw $300,000,000 (or IND 300 millions) being spent on the opening ceremony alone. If you're a fan of quick calculations, that works out to about $28,000 per head for the 10,700 athletes that competed in beijing. 

Several people attempted to compare the seemingly opulent costs of the Beijing Games against previous Olympics and escalation, inflation and growing size of the Olympics but the verdict came back much the same. Beijing became the most expensive Olympics till then!
