While all his major wins have been thoroughly impressive, we take a look at some of the truly remarkable triumphs of the new World No.1.
Wimbledon 2012
Roger Federer's most recent Grand Slam victory over Andy Murray is perhaps his most historic as well. For one, he equalled Pete Sampras' record of seven Wimbledon singles titles with the 4–6, 7–5, 6–3, 6–4 win. Secondly, he regained the top spot in the ATP rankings, thereby drawing level with Sampras' career record of 286 weeks at No.1--which Federer will obviously surpass given the point difference between him and World No.2 Novak Djokovic.
And last but certainly not the least, this is Federer's 17th Grand Slam win. This puts him well and truly ahead of the rest of the pack. Rafael Nadal, with 11 career major wins, is his closest active competitor in this respect!
