Sake

If you're a sushi fan (how could you not be?) then chances are you're already well-acquainted with this Japanese rice wine they so lovingly refer to as 'nihonshu.' First distilled in Kyoto's royal palace around the 7th century, sake is all of the Japanese islands' favorite alcoholic drink!

This clear alcohol's taste varies from mild to fruity sweet, and it's best served slightly chilled. However, slightly heated sake is also very popular. Should you develop a taste for this delicious but potent traditional wine, there'll be no looking back!
