Zeenat Aman: 70s Disco Queen
Looks: Right up there with the likes of timeless beauties like Rekha, Waheeda Rehman and Leela Naidu, Zeenat Aman is no easy competitor to take on. Even at her age she brings an electric presence to the screen, leaving you wondering how anyone could be so beautiful. We can’t even compare them on this front until Deepika ages and we know where they stand then. In the 1970s, she oozed sex appeal, and was the subject of many a schoolboy fantasy.
Movies: Zeenat has an impressive repertoire, especially considering the misogynist times in which she was at her prime. Somehow she broke out of the mould and became one of the few actresses of her generation to really carve a niche for herself. She bagged some truly iconic roles like in ‘Ajnabee’, where she plays an ambitious girl left with the decision to abort her baby and pursue her career or evening ‘Roti, Kapda Aur Makaan.’ Deepika's got a long, long way to go before she can draw even on this front. And if she keeps picking bombs like "Housefull," she'll never get there!
Body: Zeenat's got the figure that we like our women to have--curves you can hold on to, and measurements that would make any tailor break out in a sweat. Zeenat was putting the "donk" in "badonkadonk" before the likes of Kim Kardashian were even born, so she's the undisputed winner on this front.
Men: After a tragic divorce from yesteryear actor Sanjay Khan, she married struggler Mazhar Khan and bore him 2 sons. After he passed away of liver cancer, she was left a single mother. Rumours about an affair with Dev Anand were a dime a dozen, but she belonged to a different time; the media didn't pry, and celebrities' private lives were truly considered private. So we'll never really know!
Dancing and Video: It’s impossible to forget her epic portrayal of hippie Janice gently swaying and dancing with a look of ecstasy on her face, all the while taking hits of a chillum and pretending to be high. Imagine all of this set to Asha Bhonsle’s voice and a killer background score. That song alone defined a generation, and captured the imagination of an entire nation. Zeenat's moves may be tamer than Deepika's, but she wins anyway.

Deepika Padukone: Gen-Next Supermodel
Looks: Bollywood’s latest leggy lass is, ironically enough, often compared to 60s glamour models and heroines like Zeenat Aman because of her extremely Indian, yet versatile, good looks. Considering how she pulled off that classic 70s look in her debut Om Shanti Om the similarities are indeed apparent. They're both classically good looking, so we'd call this one a tie, except for the fact that Deepika's crass approach to endorsing everything from shampoos to cheap cars and low-end hair oil mean that her looks are now associated with these forever. Who is she trying to please though--her accountants? That's selling out at its worst, and so Zeenat wins this one.
Movies: She shot off to a start people only dream of in her debut with Shah Rukh Khan in Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om. This earned her Filmfare’s best female debut award. From then on, she has seemed keen to prove herself as a multi-faceted actress portraying both serious roles and playful, modern ones like Break Ke Baad etc. Of course, she is too young to have even a patch on renowned actress Zeenat Aman’s repertoire. Zeenat wins this one hands down as well.
Body: We guess it comes down to personal preference. Deepika's tall, willowy, and has a supermodel build. With that come a boy-like lack of curves. She's undeniably sexy, but we like a little more meat on our women.
Men: Let's just say she’s gotten off to quite a rocky start here but hey, we’re not complaining. From Ranbir Kapoor (whose initials she still sports as a tattoo on her neck by the way) to current beau Siddharth Mallya she sure knows how to pick ‘em. Trouble is, she may just be picking too many--there are four guys that she admits to having dated, and that's just since she shot to fame. It's not really our place to judge, but we'd much rather see her with bad-boy Ranbir than spoiled rich kid Siddharth. For the purposes of this exercise though, we're told Ranbir is quite the fiend between the sheets. So would you want to hit something that's probably all tapped out?
Dancing and Video: She looks scintillating in the Dum Maaro Dum video; there is no denying that. But even the likes of high-end designers Anahita Shroff and all the modern technology of films today cannot beat the original video for its sheer--for the lack of a better word--charsiness. The revamp's puerile lyrics ("potty pe baitha nanga" and so on) don't really help either. Deepika’s dance moves might have just pipped Zeenat's to the post though. She shakes it like her life depends on it, and the outfit leaves little to the imagination. She's probably got the sexiest midriff in the industry, and her moves show it off at its best.
